Addenbrooke's Hospital

Bedroom in Harston House

If you’re going to be a first year student studying nursing, midwifery or operating department practice at our Cambridge Campus, you can apply to live in Harston House at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Bedrooms

Harston House has 240 bedrooms. 72 bedrooms are available for ARU students which are arranged in corridors of 11-13 rooms.

Each bedroom has a single bed, a desk with drawers, a chair and a wardrobe with drawers. There’s also a sink with mirror and light.

You’ll be responsible for cleaning your own room.

There’s a security entry phone in every room.

Bathrooms

Most corridors have two bathrooms with showers, one shower room and two toilets.

Internet

Internet is available at an extra cost through a company called Keysurf. You can choose from speeds of 8, 12 or 20 Mbps.

Kitchens

You’ll share a large kitchen with 11-13 others and have a lockable cupboard for your own food.

All the kitchens have a fridge/freezer, cooker, kettle, toaster and microwave, as well as an iron and ironing board.

You’ll be responsible for cleaning your bedroom. You'll also need to help keep the shared areas tidy. There's a weekly cleaning service for communal areas, but this doesn't include washing-up or cleaning inside cupboards or appliances.

Location and transport

Addenbrooke's Hospital is 2.5 miles from Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge campus, where you’ll have your lectures.

Lots of bus routes stop at Addenbrooke’s, including a Park and Ride service. This is a good way to get to campus – journey times are about 30 minutes. Some buses go to Cambridge railway station (less than two miles away) which has regular trains to London King’s Cross.

Bicycle racks are available. Car parking is limited, but may be available.
