International Orientation Programme 14 January 2025

To help our new international students settle into their new life the International Office organises an International Orientation programme to welcome you to ARU. Please read the information below before booking on-line as there are different arrangements for students studying at ARU College, Peterborough and London.

What does the International Orientation Programme include?

The International Orientation Programme helps students moving to the UK make a successful start to their university life.



The International Orientation programme helps students moving to the UK make a successful start to their university life. There is a range of information on offer, including:

  • studying in the UK - the academic system at ARU
  • working and health entitlements
  • find a part-time job
  • opening a UK bank account
  • food and shopping
  • UK culture and customs
  • sport and social facilities
  • travel and transport
  • ARU ID card and BRP collection
  • social events to help you make friends

This programme is free of charge.

Coming to study on our Cambridge or Chelmsford campus?

The International Orientation Programme will take place on 14 January, and you will need to book online in advance for this popular programme. Please use the booking form at the bottom of this page.

Studying in Peterborough?

The International Orientation Programme is included in your welcome event on 16 January. No need to book online.

Studying on our Writtle campus?

Your International Orientation will take place on 14 January Please book online and select Chelmsford campus.

Studying at ARU College?

No need to book the International Orientation Programme online as ARU College will offer a special International Orientation and Welcome event for you. You will receive further information about welcome arrangements directly from ARU College.

Studying at ARU London?

Welcome events will take place during 13 - 17 January. You will receive further information about welcome arrangements directly from ARU London.

When should I book my place on the International Orientation Programme & Course Induction day?

You should only book your place when you know that you will be able to arrive in the UK by 13 January to attend this programme.

I have booked a place. What do I do now?

You'll receive an automatic confirmation of booking. Keep it safe. We'll contact you again with a final set of information e.g. start time and location.
