Our BA (Hons) TV Production course has a specific focus on the television Industry. In the UK, the industry has proved to be resilient and as it bounces back post-COVID, technically competent, creative professionals specialising in TV will be highly sought-after.

Industry-standard equipment

As a student at ARU you’ll have use of facilities including:

  • a fully-equipped HD multi-camera TV studio including multi-purpose scenic backdrops; lighting rig; professional-standard gallery; mixer; autocue
  • a film studio featuring overhead lighting, tracks, dollies, green screens, and flats
  • a full range of digital cameras including C100s and Sony FS5s leading up to industry-standard 4K Sony FS7s
  • location kit including Steadicam, jibs, location lighting, and sound-recording equipment
  • for editing and post-production, more than 30 editing suites and stations, plus a specialist colour grading suite all with complete Da Vinci Resolve software (including Colour Grading and Fairlight sound post production ) as well as the complete Adobe Creative Cloud suite and Master Collection (Premier Pro, After Affects, Audition and Speed Grade)
  • film cameras, film processing and Steenbeck editing to work on 16mm film.

Our experienced technical staff are on hand to offer full training.

Learn outside the classroom

You’ll benefit from extra-curricular events such as:

  • joining the organising committees of Watersprite International Student Film Festival
  • networking with filmmakers at Watersprite
  • volunteering or interning at the Cambridge International Film Festival
  • the option to attend events such as Sheffield Documentary Festival
  • field trips to London for RTS Masterclasses and live studio TV recordings
  • events offered through our student-led film societies.

We'll also support you to take part in filmmaking initiatives such as 60 Second Shakespeare and the Kodak 16mm Commercials Competition; and take on smaller film jobs to gain valuable work experience.
