On our Biomedical Sciences degree at ARU Peterborough, you’ll learn about the human body at a molecular, organ and systems level. You’ll discover how to investigate and treat disease with our passionate and highly qualified lecturers. who will share the latest findings about conditions such as cancer, diabetes, antibiotic resistance, and haemostasis.

Health and Care Professions Council We will support and cover the fees for students wishing to work in the NHS as a biomedical scientist on graduation to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) via the certificate of competence route.

Facilities

You’ll learn in all three of our specialist laboratories, among some of the newest facilities in the country, equipped with the latest industry-standard equipment, ensuring you graduate well-used to the kit used in employer’s labs.

We offer a general Biomedical Sciences lab, a category 2 microbiology lab and a tissue-culture lab, all located in our stunning, purpose-built campus in the heart of Peterborough.

Careers

What can you do with a degree in Biomedical Sciences?

With a degree in Biomedical Sciences, you could pursue a career as a microbiologist, a clinical scientist, a physician associate, or a scientific laboratory technician, typically within the health care or pharmaceutical sectors.

This degree is also valuable if you want to work in the life sciences industry.

ARU Peterborough focuses on your employability; we’ve collaborated with over 170 employers to ensure you graduate with the skills valued in industry.

If you wish to become a doctor and pass the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT), plus have relevant work experience in the healthcare sector, you can apply for a four- or five-year accelerated programme at a UK medical school after graduation.

There's a limited opportunity to transfer to Year 1 of our MBChB Medicine degree, following successful completion of your first year of Biomedical Science, application, and interview.

Alternatively, you may decide to stay at ARU and study one of our postgraduate degrees, such as MSc Applied Bioscience. Take advantage of our Alumni Scholarship and get 20% off your fees.
