Working as a paramedic

Take the first step toward a rewarding career as a paramedic with our degree in Paramedic Science.

Successful completion of the course and registration will allow you to deliver out-of-hospital care, including an opportunity to join an NHS ambulance service. The role of the paramedic in an ambulance trust can vary from working on an ambulance or response car carrying out emergency work, to the control room or even the helicopter emergency medical service or hazardous area response team.

Paramedics are increasingly being employed in the delivery of acute care in hospitals and in private healthcare too, for example, in event medicine at concerts or motor racing.

If you choose to study in Cambridge, we offer placements with East of England Ambulance Service only. In Chelmsford we offer placements with either East of England Ambulance Service or London Ambulance Service.
