Social Work taster days

Two Social Work students in conversation

If you’re passionate about making a difference to children, families and adults, join us at a taster day to find out more about our social work and social care degrees.

You'll get:

  • the chance to speak to a course lecturer and current students
  • an opportunity to explore the role of the social worker
  • information about our degree course and placements
  • useful tips on applying, including interview information.

Find out more about our BA (Hons) Social Work and MA Social Work.

Book your taster day

Taster days usually run between October-January. We'll add details of future events here when confirmed. Alternatively, you can register your interest on [email protected] and we'll let you know when dates are ready for you to book.

Working as a social worker

Our BA (Hons) Social Work and MA Social Work degrees are professional qualifications, approved by Social Work England.

We know that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. As a social work student at ARU you’ll benefit from placement opportunities that’ll help develop your knowledge, skills and values in a practice setting.

Once you’re registered there’s a wide range of job opportunities for trained social workers. Our graduates work in services including adoption, fostering, child protection, adult safeguarding and youth offending. You can choose to work in the public, private or voluntary sectors – often alongside colleagues from other disciplines.
