Privacy information for ARU app users

This privacy notice is designed to help you understand how we use personal information for this service.

The activity will involve the following uses of your personal data: link to minimum necessary data in your Student Record to help set up your app account, and once set up, delivering you information and services.

We have set out details below of the information we use, who we share it with, and how long we will keep it.

Wherever possible we use non-identifiable personal information. We only collect and use the following minimum personal information:

  • Name/Contact details
  • Student ID number
  • Email address
  • ID photo
  • Course details
  • Other data you may choose to submit to the app

We use your information for these purposes:

  1. To provide you with access to practical information to support your studies and student life, and allow us to keep you informed.

Sometimes we may need to share your information, but we will only do so where it is necessary or required by law. We will only share the minimum personal information that we are required to.

We use Data Processors to support these activities, for example by providing the systems we need to or delivering services on our behalf.

These are:

Anglia Ruskin University is the Data Controller for this activity.

Consent – once app account is set-up.

Legitimate interests – to assist with account set-up.

Our Data Processor has provided us with contractual assurances over data security on their platform. Data shared with them by ARU is encrypted during transfer.

Your personal data will be deleted promptly when you request this.

The law gives you rights to control what personal information is used by us and how it is used by us.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint about our processing of your personal data with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
