Course: Primary Education Studies
I've over 13 years’ experience working in schools, and teacher education in higher education settings. I passionately believe in providing children with the best possible education, and consider supporting undergraduate students to prepare for initial teacher education to be an extremely important step in this process.
Teaching is one of the most rewarding careers there is, and yet it with that reward comes significant challenge.
The Primary Education Studies course will help to prepare you on your journey towards being a teacher; you will learn how to engage critically with educational theory and policy, you will learn the most effective pedagogies with which to support children of a range of needs and abilities, and you will explore a range of subject knowledge across English, mathematics, science and technology. All of this will be applied directly to supporting you as a teacher in the primary classroom. This will mean that when you move into initial teacher education you will have an excellent, solid base from which to develop your own teaching practice and to ultimately become an outstanding teacher yourself.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog posts about the course.
