By adopting new working practices and supporting the use of zero and low carbon transport we will reduce the impacts of our commuting and business travel.

Travel Survey and Plan

Our travel plan aims to help staff and students make greener travel choices with money off bus and train travel and discounts on bikes, which we hope you can benefit from.

We carry out regular travel surveys to monitor the effectiveness of our travel plan and to see how our staff and students travel to and between our campuses.

Business travel

Our target to become zero carbon by 2045 includes our indirect carbon emissions from business travel.

Our Travel and Expenses Policy (PDF) supports our carbon reduction goals by requiring staff to prioritise online meetings and low carbon travel between campuses, and to use surface transport (e.g. rail) over air transport for journeys less than 750 miles.

We are currently implementing new travel management procedures to strengthen our ability to monitor and manage our business travel activity in support of our sustainability, health and safety, wellbeing and financial objectives.

Our performance
