Tania - pole vaulter for ARU

Are you a talented sportsperson who could compete against some of the best student athletes in the country?

If so, there are a number of British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) individual events which you can represent us in - even if we don't have a club for that sport.

Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Canoeing, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Climbing, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Golf, Gymnastics, Ju Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Modern Biathlon/Pentathlon, Orienteering, Pool, Rifle, Sailing, Snooker, Snowsports, Squash, Surfing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Trampolining, Triathlon, Wakeboarding, Weightlifting, Windsurfing.

BUCS Nationals 2019

This year we took Anglia Ruskin students to BUCS Nationals to compete in athletics, judo, fencing, karate and swimming.

All of our athletes were supported by the Team ARU staff.

We had students from six different nationalities competing; eight of our athletes made their debut in the competition.

Mascot, Ruskin the Rhino, also tried his best in the highly competitive mascot race!

ARU BUCS Nationals Highlights 2019

Previous sporting success

In previous years, our athletes have competed in BUCS Nationals and at various events throughout the year. In the space of two years, we won 14 medals, including five golds. We've supported a student to represent a home nations pool team, and two judokas at the European University Games.

If you're selected to represent Anglia Ruskin, Team ARU will be there to offer financial and organisational support. If you’d like to find out more, please contact our High Performance Sport Coordinator.
