British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES)

The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) is the professional body for sport and exercise sciences in the UK. Their mission is to drive excellence in sport and exercise sciences through the promotion of evidence-based practice and the development and enhancement of professional and ethical standards.

Our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science course is endorsed by BASES.The BASES Undergraduate Endorsement Scheme (BUES) awards endorsement to sport and exercise science degree courses that provide undergraduates with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills essential to enter into the profession.

Individuals who have a BASES endorsed undergraduate degree (and go on to complete a relevant postgraduate degree) will be considered as having the required level of underpinning technical knowledge and understanding for BASES Accreditation.

Our Sport and Exercise Science labs have also achieved BASES Laboratory Accreditation. The BASES Laboratory Accreditation provides a mark of quality assurance to clients, research funders and the wider community that illustrates the laboratory has undergone meticulous inspection by BASES and that high professional standards of practice have been achieved.

Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA)

CIMSPA are the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector, and are the sector’s only chartered professional body. They are the guardians of the Professional Standards for the Sport and Physical Activity sector, and their kitemark means you'll be viewed as “job ready” by sector employers.

Our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching and Physical Education and BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning with Rehabilitation are all CIMSPA Endorsed courses. Our courses are mapped variously to the following Professional Standards:

Society of Sports Therapists

The Society of Sports Therapists (SST) is the lead organisation for Sports Therapists in the UK. Membership of the Society is at Graduate level via a Society accredited degree programme.

We are proud to have our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy accredited by the SST. Being an accredited course, and with the oversight of the SST you can be sure that the practical and theory content you are being taught is not only relevant to you for your career as a Sports Therapist but is also at the cutting edge within the field.

Upon graduation you are eligible to become a full accredited member of the SST which brings with it a number of benefits such as professional and legal advice as well as international insurance cover.

The British Psychological Society (BPS) is responsible for the promotion of excellence and ethical practice in the science, education, and application of the discipline. If you achieve a second-class honours degree or above in our undergraduate Psychology courses, you’ll be eligible for graduate chartered membership of the British Psychological Society. It’s your first step towards becoming a chartered psychologist.
