Year 1 delivers a learning-by-doing pedagogical experience in the studio that acts as a ‘baptism of fire’ and exposes students to the entire spectrum and complexity of architecture. The year addresses fundamental questions spanning from the arts, or the poetic – conceptual and abstract creations and their representations, real-life scenarios of making and building 1:1. The studios are supported by: making, through Building Technology; and expressing-representing-communicating, through Elements of Construction, Folio Skills and Essential Skills.
