Vanessa is a Senior Lecturer in Computing and Artificial Intelligence. Her research interests include neural networks, computational intelligence, multimedia technology and intelligent systems.

Background

Vanessa received a BSc (Hons) in Information Technology and a PhD from the Department of Electronic Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. Before joining ARU, she served as a professor and programme leader in the School of Science and Technology, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK). She is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a corporate member of IET, and a senior member of IEEE and IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.

Vanessa has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience in academia. She obtained the OUHK President’s Award of Teaching Excellence in 2016, and the OUHK President’s Award for Distinguished Achievement in 2016 and 2003 respectively. She received best paper awards at international conferences in 2015, 2020 and 2021 respectively.
