Roger is an experience operating department practitioner (ODP), and has taught a variety of subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level since 1995. He is currently advising on all issues surrounding APL, partnership and collaborative provision.


Roger originally trained in the British Army as an Operating Theatre Technician and saw active service in the first Gulf War. Roger left the army in 1991 and worked at Ipswich and Basildon Hospitals as an Operating Department Practitioner. He joined Anglia Ruskin University in 1995 as a lecturer in Operating Department Practice, teaching Anaesthetic and Pharmacology theory and practice.

Roger completed the BA (Hons) Education with a First Class award and went on to complete the MA (Education) before taking on the Mentorship award. He became course leader, taking on the BSc Health and Social Care course and more recently the MCh Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Practice. Current roles include Faculty Advisor on all things related to APL, partnership and collaborative provision, course and module leader, with teaching expertise in Leadership, Mentorship and Research Methodology and Design.
