Peter is an accomplished research scientist with over seven years of postdoctoral research experience. He is a Senior Lecturer in biomedical science and Director of our Biomedical Research Group.
Peter’s research experience is from a wide variety of settings; from the Clinical Pharmacology laboratory (1992-1995) ex. of Hans Krebs (Nobel Laureate) in the Radcliffe Infirmary, University of Oxford, to the Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge (1995-2000). His current and long-standing research interests are in the role of transglutaminase enzymes, during programmed cell death (apoptosis) and most recently in cancer and chemotherapeutic drug resistance of hepatocarcinoma.
In recent years, this interest has extended to the study of erythropoetin and nitrogen oxide metabolism (NO) in explant tissue culture models of rheumatoid arthritis. Peter’s research experience informs his teaching.
