Marlene is a practising midwife with a particular interest in midwifery-led care, perinatal mental health and midwifery in developing countries or low-resource settings.

Background

Marlene has worked in all areas of the maternity department in the UK for over 5 years before Joining ARU in 2021. In 2019 she spent 6 months working in Afghanistan, supporting, training, and coordinating local staff in a busy maternity hospital. Marlene has always enjoyed working with students and junior staff. Currently she is practising clinically in a free-standing birth centre where she can promote normality and provide all aspects of midwifery care.
