Leanne is a Registered Children’s Nurse with recent experience working in the community as a SCPHN School Nurse. Leanne is passionate about the role of the School Nurse and the support they provide to children, young people and families to ensure they are able to reach their full potential.
Leanne has intermittently been a student at ARU since 2010. Leanne Initially obtained her qualification as a registered children’s nurse prior to working in a Specialist Paediatric Cardiorespiratory centre where she provided nursing care to children and young people with complex cardiac and respiratory health conditions. Leanne undertook additional training and progressed in this role and became a member of the High Dependency Unit team.
Leanne returned to her ‘pre-nursing’ roots in the community as a School Nurse where she has remained until recently due to her love of the role. Leanne hopes to share her passion for school nursing, demonstrating the valuable role that they play within our local communities.
Leanne has recently completed her master’s in specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nursing) at ARU, using her final major project to consider practice-based experiences for student nurses and how this may influence recruitment into School Nursing. Leanne looks forward to contributing towards research in these areas in the future.
Leanne has enjoyed supporting both pre-registration and SCPHN students throughout her career in both clinical and community settings.
