Javaid is an active researcher in the field of additive manufacturing and has a wealth of experience in characterising and analysing varied materials for product development. He has designed and developed several processes capable of manufacturing polymers, metals and composites (metal/metal and plastic/metal) based on the techniques of additive manufacturing. Javaid’s current research focuses on interlacing existing manufacturing practices (subtractive, additive and hybrid) with advanced robotics for engineering applications.
Javaid was awarded a fully funded studentship for PhD studies from the Department of Engineering & Built Environment at Anglia Ruskin University. He designed a new additive manufacturing process to produce metal/composite parts and was awarded his doctorate degree in 2016. Javaid was also awarded merit scholarship during his MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering Science/Mechatronics at the University of Southampton. For his MSc project, he designed a novel mechanism to produce multiple material parts using a desktop-based 3D printer. Javaid was the recipient of Pakistan Government’s merit scholarship during his undergraduate studies in Mechatronics & Control Engineering at University of Engineering & Technology. His final year project was based on the design of a master-slave dexterous robotic hand.
