Preparing for graduation

Congratulations, Class of 2019! Here's what you can do to prepare for your graduation day in October.

These pages will be updated regularly across the summer. You'll find details about how to book tickets for you and your guests, and make arrangements for gown hire and photographs – so please keep checking back.

Graduation ceremony dates and venues are now confirmed for this year.

1. Read the terms and conditions

Please ensure you read our terms and conditions before confirming your attendance and purchasing guest tickets.

2. Check you are eligible to attend

You are eligible to attend a graduation ceremony if your award is confirmed between 1 October 2018 and 30 September 2019.

You can confirm attendance and purchase guest tickets before your results are known, providing you are due to have your award confirmed by 30 September 2019.

An award will be withheld if any monies are owed to us. If you are unsure, please visit contact us.

3. Make sure we have your contact details

Make sure all of your contact details are up to date via your eVision account, including your home address, as we will send out information about booking your graduation ceremony in mid-July.

Keep checking your student email account too, as we'll also be sending you information by email. Keep an eye out for your invitation postcard and email (we will use your student email and your Home address if in UK).

4. Confirm your attendance

Confirm your attendance, free of charge, through eVision between 22 July and 3 September.

To avoid any delay with booking your graduation ceremony, please make sure all your debts with us are settled by 12 July 2019.

5. Book guest tickets

You can buy guest tickets (maximum of three) via eVision at £25 per ticket (including VAT).

You will need to have confirmed your own attendance before purchasing guest tickets. Guest tickets are not reserved until payment has been made.

From Thursday 5 September, bookings for extra guest tickets open on eVision. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we'll have additional guest tickets available for every ceremony. Additional tickets are purchased on a first come, first served basis (still priced at £25) and online booking will be available until the ceremony is full or 26 September. Please note that we are unable to keep a waiting list for guest tickets or consider any exceptional circumstance.

6. Book your robe package

As this is a formal academic event, you'll need to arrange robe hire for your graduation ceremony.

Gown hire can be booked from 22 July via Ede & Ravenscroft. To ensure a gown is available for you on the day, you will need to have booked your gown least 21 days before your graduation ceremony.

7. Do you or your guest need a visa?

If you or your guests need a visa to visit the UK, make sure you submit your visiting visa application in plenty of time, to avoid any delays.

For advice on how to apply for a visiting visa, check our visa information for non-EU students.

8. Read all essential information

Make sure you read information about venues and travel and parking in Peterborough, Chelmsford and Cambridge.

9. Admittance of children into the ceremony

Children under the age of five may enter free of charge but are required to sit on the lap of the accompanying adult. Children aged five and above must have their own ticket and seat. There are no concessions for children. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult; please note that children cannot be seated with the graduand.

The number of children under five must be no more than the total number of adult guests attending.

The University reserves the right to ask any child (or adult) to leave the venue during the ceremony if they are making unnecessary noise which is disruptive to the proceedings or to other guests.

Any questions?

If you have any questions about your graduation ceremony, please email graduation@anglia.ac.uk including your name and SID.
