Welcome to our Peterborough campus, the baby of the bunch. If you didn’t know about our Peterborough campus, it's home to a lot of our healthcare courses at the moment - although we are opening ARU Peterborough in 2022 which will offer an even wider range of courses.

Right now and for the next two years, our Peterborough campus will continue to be the campus we love but I am excited to see what changes the future brings.

There are many reasons I love our campus. Here are a few.

The city and University is accessible, straightforward and easy to get around. I can commute easily and when the shops are open there are plenty of places to grab lunch or do a bit of shopping. There are direct trains to Cambridge and London too, if you are coming from further afield.

My course

As a student nurse, you can already guess that my favourite thing, my numero uno favourite place, will have to be our skills lab.

This is where we get to practice all the clinical skills we will need once we are out on placements. My inquisitive mind is always snooping around our equipment and asking what everything is and what everything does. And if you walked into our skills lab our 'patients' will be sure to give you a laughable fright.

It’s awesome to be able to practice so many skills in this one room with my fellow students; and our skills tutors are amazing.

Places to relax

I also love our canteen/eating area. We have these cosy orange chairs that are so comfortable; I cannot tell you how many times my friends and I will sit in these chairs and lose track of time. It's always so lovely to have a place to just chill. Now, with COVID-19 the crowds wouldn’t be safe so it’s good that we will have limited people on campus and staggered breaks. It means we can still get a moment to relax after class without having to rush off again.

Places to study

We also have a small area where we could go to do group work, this is where most of us met on our very first day. We have these huge computer screens, so everyone can see what is happening especially when working in large groups. It's so convenient because it means we don’t have six people trying to see one little computer screen. Great now for socially distanced work too.

The library

At ARU the three campus libraries are connected. If the Peterborough library doesn’t have something I want, but say, the Chelmsford library does, we can put in an order and we will be told once it arrives, I absolutely love it. A huge number of resources are digital too, so it wouldn’t matter where you are!

I love that even though we are all far from each other, help, support, and resources are never far away.

ARU + technology + the fantastic staff = students thriving!
