I am beyond proud to share that I have officially graduated from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, with a First-Class Honours in BSc Psychology!

Moving from Greece to study abroad was both exciting and challenging. Adapting to a new country, overcoming homesickness, and balancing academics with personal growth weren’t easy—but these challenges built my resilience and determination.

🔬 Research

Throughout my degree, I had the privilege of working as a Research Assistant with Dr. Craig Owen and Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) Kirk on a qualitative study: “How to Raise Feminist Sons.” We explored crucial societal issues such as toxic masculinity and gender stereotypes, contributing to ongoing conversations about gender equality and the role of psychology in shaping a more inclusive future.🧑‍🧑‍🧒

For my dissertation, I conducted a quantitative study on factors influencing eco-anxiety levels in adults under the guidance of Dr. Elena Sakkalou, with additional support from Dr. Flavia Cardini. Researching the psychological impact of climate change reinforced my belief in the power of psychology to address pressing global challenges.🌳

Beyond these projects, I have always been passionate about researching current social issues—whether it’s gender equality, mental health, or environmental concerns. Psychology is deeply intertwined with these topics, and I am driven by the opportunity to contribute to meaningful discussions and solutions that improve lives and shape a better future.📚

💡 Beyond Academics

My time at ARU was more than just lectures and assignments. As a Student Ambassador for Psychology, I had the opportunity to share my passion with prospective students at open days, applicant days, and university events. Inspiring others to pursue psychology has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my degree.🧠

Currently, I am also a Wellbeing Volunteer with Care Network Cambridgeshire where I help individuals recovering from long hospital stays or illnesses reintegrate into society. Supporting people as they overcome isolation and regain confidence has been incredibly fulfilling, reinforcing my commitment to using psychology to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.🫂

Anglia Ruskin University became more than just a university—it became a home. I had the privilege of working alongside brilliant experts in psychology, and I’ve formed lifelong friendships with incredible peers.

To all future students and international students: The road may not always be easy, but it is worth it. Every challenge you overcome shapes your journey. Believe in yourself, embrace growth, and keep pushing forward.

This chapter may be closing, but the journey is just beginning✨
