I’ve always said that living in Peterborough and attending university has been the best decision I made.
The town is so small, and there’s enough to do without being a huge distraction. As a student nurse, I do sometimes need a bit of retail and relaxation therapy and thankfully Peterborough has what I need!
We have our shopping centre, which is filled with everything you need. Clothes, food, shoes, you name it, we’ve got it. My favourite and every time go-to is Nando’s, who DOESN’T love a cheeky Nando’s?
My second fave is Middleton's, in the summer they have such cute outdoors dining, and for the colder months their indoors dining is so comfortable and oh so cute. Can you tell I’m an absolute foodie yet?
There are also so many little hidden shops and restaurants you can find when exploring the town.
Not only do we have a shopping centre centrally, but we also have another mini shopping centre called Serpentine Green, which is one bus ride from the bus station. I absolutely love going there because it feels like a whole new city. If you're a Costa fanatic, that’s where I expect to find you, as they have a beautiful Costa shop near one of the entrances.
It’s also conveniently the home of our main Tesco. The biggest Tesco in Peterborough has tons more than the smaller Tesco in town, and it’s worth the bus journey to make sure you get the best deals and save a bit of your student budget.
Closer to our main town centre is our Showcase cinema with its lovely seating which is also a bus ride away. A little birdie told me we will soon have a cinema near the entrance of the town centre so we will be spoilt for choice.
Overall, student life in Peterborough is chilled if you are the chilled, home bound type of person but can be lots of fun if you’re the fun and outgoing type of person. In this blog I haven’t touched on any of the sports and leisure facilities, but I’ll try to write one for you soon! There truly is something for everyone in Peterborough.
