Course: MA Dramatherapy

Hi, I’m Ellie. I’m currently a first-going-into-second-year MA dramatherapy student, originally hailing from Manchester. I did my undergraduate degree in Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham, took a couple of years out to work and travel and then came to ARU in September 2019 for a two-year Masters degree. So far, I’m loving it!

I study on the Cambridge campus and find that the city is a great place to be a postgraduate student in. There is such a great spirit of everyone being at home there and so much outdoor space to enjoy too; you’ll barely know you’re the middle of a city. I live in a town that is about a 20-minute train ride from Cambridge and commute in on the days that I have classes and for my job in the Students' Union. My course also has placements on two days per week and I find that it’s easy enough to travel to those via train.

There are only ten people in the year group for my course so we have a really tight-knit community and I’ve made some amazing friends who I’m sure will stay with me throughout my entire career. I also feel like all of our tutors are incredibly approachable, make teaching interesting and give me a unquenchable thirst to learn more.

In my time outside of university, I love to cycle, do yoga, go to the theatre and travel; I also play netball for ARU which is a sport I absolutely love to play and has made my time here even more amazing.

I hope that my blogs give you a feel for postgraduate life at ARU. I look forward to sharing them with you all.
