21 July 2017

You may be familiar with the organisations known as Catapults: the UK's network of innovation centres. These bodies take research and translate it into technical innovations, inventions and products generating impact in the real world.

The Catapults function as independent organisations, but are finding that they need to enhance their links with universities and mainstream researchers. To this end, they are offering chances for researchers to become Researchers in Residence.

Funding is available to support these positions at up to £50,000, that may be spread over time between one and four years. The award is made to the researcher's base organisation in order to cover salary costs during the residency period(s), and travel, subsistence costs, as well as any consumables used at the Catapult. Two announcements of opportunity will be made in 2017, 2018 and 2019, with residencies running up to 2023.

This programme is designed to speed up impact from Research Council-funded research and to create collaborations and knowledge exchange between academia and Catapults. The Researchers in Residence will act at times as a single cohort, disseminating their experiences.

Please check out the call page if you're interested in this opportunity, and get in touch with RIDO if you'd like to start an application.
