What I enjoy most about my role at ARU is encouraging my students to reach their potential and develop their own self-belief. I advance their perceptions of the field of nutritional science, and where they fit into the industry.

As Senior Lecturer for Nutrition and Course Leader for BSc Applied Nutritional Science, I manage the day-to-day running of the course. That involves delivering various aspects of the programme including taught lectures, workshops and seminars. I also support and inspire students in their journey to achieve their goals.

In widening participation, nurturing students is a large part of my job, and I provide a supportive and approachable atmosphere to enable students to gain confidence. By providing current and emerging information, I actively engage my students to apply their knowledge.

During my time at ARU, there are many things I am proud of, but one of my key achievements has been raising the profile of Nutritional Science internally and externally. ARU provides a friendly working environment, and encouraging growth and expansion is the key to our future success.

If I could offer one piece of advice to people, I’d say if you want to achieve something don’t let anyone tell you any different. If you want something enough go and get it. When the time is right, you can achieve anything!
