My name is John Walsh and I work as a Learning Technologist in our Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
I help support, enable and deliver faculty and corporate learning, teaching and assessment goals through the application of learning technology.
The thing I enjoy most about my job is being able to support staff in creating new, or alternative, forms of digital learning resources. My work can then help save everyone, staff and students alike, valuable time.
During my time here at ARU, I am most proud of my ongoing support to help the institution shift its thinking regarding the use of digital learning resources, both in terms of reducing environmental impacts and accommodating accessible and inclusive design.
If I could give one piece of advice, I would say that confidence is the key to improving personal development. It is also important to also allow yourself the occasional failure so that you can still learn and grow, à la Nietzsche!
