If you're starting university this year, here are some ideas to help you settle into your new home quickly and easily.

Bedspread with the word 'Paris' on it

Make your bed! It sounds so simple, but once you’ve made your bed, it already feels more like home. Get some nice bed sheets that you like to help you enjoy your time in your new accommodation.

Red checked throw

Buy or bring a nice cosy throw to keep you warm and comfortable when it gets chilly! Keep it at the end of your bed as décor.

Buy or bring some fairy lights, and put them around your shelving, or on your pin board.

Decorative wall plaque

Get a slogan plaque to put on your pin board! Or, print out some photos of friends, family and pets and pin them up.

Storage canister with 'Coffee' on the front

Do you enjoy a nice cuppa? Having coffee, sugar and tea pots can make your accommodation seem much more homely.

Yellow desk lamp

Buy or bring a lamp to have at your bedside, so you can read and relax before bed.

If you have some family cookbooks, bring them along. It will not only help you with your culinary skills, but it will remind you of home.

Two small soft toys on a bed

Bring some items from your room at home. Whether it’s posters, your stamp collection, or precious gifts, bring them, so you can be reminded of home.

Following these top tips, you will soon settle into your student accommodation, and might even start calling it home!
