The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) have come together to offer a knowledge exchange fellowship scheme.
This funding concept is still quite a rare opportunity, and allows a researcher to develop their career in a whole new direction. KE fellows do not carry out research for their KE project, instead they use their time to work with the FCO and influence policy. Their role is to bring together stakeholders from across relevant fields to generate impact.
KE fellows will build relationships across policy/academia, encouraging engagement and impact in both directions. It is currently expected that a fellow would work between 60 and 80% full time for two years. As in most RCUK schemes, funding is offered at 80% FEC, and the amount paid will be determined by the work proposed.
