With graduation just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how you can celebrate your hard work and academic achievements with family and friends! Whether you’re planning a smaller chilled out gathering, or a big graduation party, I have some ideas that might inspire you!
- Have a garden gathering
- Decorate with lighting
- Gazebo and shaded area for weather protection
- Choose a colour theme (blue and yellow for ARU of course!)
- Final touches – diploma décor
Grill and Chill
If you’re looking for a smaller more relaxed gathering, there’s nothing like a BBQ buffet in your back garden! Despite keeping it more low key, there’s no reason why you can’t decorate your garden by adding some subtle lighting outside!
One of the best ways to do this is adding your own fairy lights to a graduation sign! It also means you’ll have a perfect backdrop for all those pictures you’ll want to take! You could even get a few photo props to make it more entertaining!
However, it’s always good to have a contingency plan in case the weather doesn’t cooperate! A gazebo is a great way to keep people dry and will also offer some shade from the sun in the mid-day heat! But this doesn’t have to ruin the aesthetic of the garden! You could dress up the gazebo with a display of colourful balloons. Be sure to choose a colour theme and carry it throughout all your décor if you want to make a statement!
Going all out!
Location // Guests // Food
If you’re planning on going all out, I also have some ideas for a larger scale party. The key to making any event stand out, is by tailoring the decorations to the occasion! A great idea for graduation, would be to make simple changes to your basic décor like turning your party napkins into diplomas! All you need for this is to get some white napkins and tie each up with some black ribbon! Or another unique way to decorate is to display photos from balloon strings! Small touches like this will make all the difference and make the party feel more special!
