All of my second year hospital placements were observational only; they involved 5 weeks of being off the road and in different departments in hospital, week beginning 28 September 2015.

I was fortunate enough to be welcomed into the Intermediate Dependency Area (IDA), the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), the Neurological Critical Care/Major Trauma Unit (NCCU) and into the Delivery Unit of the Birthing centre. The hospital I was placed in was welcoming and accommodating even in the face of complications and miscommunications, they supported my learning and attempted to get me as involved as possible. My next four articles are a reflection of the last five weeks. I have removed identifiable details as far as possible from all of my posts to ensure confidentiality is upheld.
