Whether we are teaching solely or partially online, there is an ongoing debate over whether students are engaging. When we deliver in the classroom we can see if students are drifting off, but how do we know that when they're online?
In this session we will explore the phenomenon of ‘video on / video off’, what we may assume about student presence, and how we can ensure students are engaged online. The session is designed so that we can all share ideas of what has worked and what hasn’t worked for us. During the session we will record our ideas and suggestions to produce a guidance document on engaging students online that we can all use and share.
The session will be led and facilitated by Isobel Gowers, Academic Lead for Active Inclusive Learning.
We continue to closely monitor the rapidly evolving situation around coronavirus (COVID-19). So we can best protect the health and wellbeing of all members of the community we are suspending many public-facing events on campus until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
