We're here Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm (please note we close at 3.30pm on the first and third Thursday of the month for staff training), and Friday 9am-4.30pm.

Here at the School of Engineering & the Built Environment, you'll find the largest choice of engineering courses in the East of England.

At ARU, we'll encourage you to gain the right work experience during your studies and support you with this, as well as offering the option of taking a sandwich year placement with an industry-relevant partner. Our team of academic, technical and support staff take pride in delivering an up-to-date and exciting curriculum, while offering a friendly atmosphere in which you can thrive.

Many of our courses are accredited by professional bodies and all are developed in close collaboration with industry and with emerging technologies in mind. We offer exceptional facilities to support our students, researchers and the businesses we work with. From workshop space to dedicated medical engineering labs.

Studying an Engineering course, you will have access to:

  • State-of-the-art electronics and microelectronics laboratories; including Xilinx ISE digital systems design software and National Instruments’ Multisim and Labview System Design Software and the latest all programmable Zynq SoC FPGA circuits and ARM microcontrollers.
  • the chance to gain experience and build your employability skills on an optional placement year
  • award-winning IT and library facilities.
