We're an Approved Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Centre, offering RHS qualifications which are widely recognised and respected in the horticulture industry.
This Level 3 course is ideal if you love plants and are looking to increase your plant knowledge. You'll also learn how to use this in creating innovative and sustainable planting designs.
As a student at Writtle College, you’ll gain extensive experience of identifying and using plants for different situations, how to use this knowledge in creating planting combinations, learn the use of texture and form in planning borders and researching and designing planting schemes for specific environmental and climatic conditions.

Hands-on learning
As a horticulture student at Writtle College you'll:
- use our temperature-controlled glasshouse, gardens and large collection of plants across campus
- develop essential skills in tractor driving and operating estate machinery
- take part in projects at local schools and businesses such as maintaining, planting and designing gardens
- go on field trips to gardens such as RHS Wisley, RHS Hyde Hall and Cambridge Botanical Gardens.
