GREAT Scholarship

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Anglia Ruskin University is offering 4 scholarships to students in China (2 places), Egypt (1 place) and Kenya (1 place) applying for full-time taught postgraduate courses in all subjects starting in September 2021.

The GREAT Scholarships 2021 campaign is designed to support more students in Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand to access higher education opportunities in the UK. This year, our scholarship is available to passport holders from China, Egypt and Kenya.

Please note this scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarships, or the international early payment discount.


£10,000. The scholarship will be deducted from your tuition fees in your first year of study.


This scholarship will be awarded in your first year of study.


To apply for the GREAT Scholarship you must:

  • be a passport holder from China, Egypt or Thailand
  • have applied, and received an offer (conditional or unconditional) of a place on a full-time postgraduate taught course
  • be starting your course in September 2021
  • be studying on our campuses in Cambridge or Chelmsford.

How we assess your application

The application will be assessed by a panel of ARU staff. We will notify the British Council of our decision.

Applications will be ranked based on the details provided in the application form and supporting documentation, in line with the GREAT Scholar Profile published by British Council. We may also invite you to an interview to talk about your application.
