Dr Ying Wang is an experienced researcher specialising in finance, accounting, FinTech and innovation. She provides leadership in postgraduate research activities at the Faculty of Business and Law to achieve the vision and values of high-quality doctoral education and professional development provision.

Ying has successfully supervised thirteen doctoral researchers to completion and has extensive experience examining both PhD and DBA candidates. She also serves as the chair for ISBE Special Interest Group - SMEs and Growth: HEI as “Institutional Anchors” at the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE).

Background

Ying’s research interests centre in the areas of sustainable finance, ESG, corporate finance, venture capital, Fintech and innovation, financial economics, corporate governance and accounting and finance. She has won research grants from both research councils and industry funding.

Passionate to bring her professional and industry experience to education, Ying has helped a lot of her students to achieve the best outcomes from their education journeys. In addition to her teaching experience at the doctorate research, PG and UG levels, she also designed and delivered workshops to CEOs and professionals. She is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy.

Ying has published her research with world-leading journal publisher and is an active peer reviewer for international journals and conferences. Dr Wang enjoys conducting research using both quantitative and qualitative methods. She regularly acts as chairs and discussants at international and national conferences.

Areas of research supervision

Ying is an experienced research degree supervisor with both PhD and DBA completions. She has thirteen PhD completions to date and currently supervises four PhD and DBA students as the first supervisor.

Ying has been involved with PhD examinations in accounting, finance and business fields. She would like to supervise doctoral candidates in her research interest areas as indicated above using either quantitative or qualitative research methods.
