Research interests

  • The use of traditional stories and narrative in Dramatherapy and Applied Theatre for therapeutic purposes
  • Facilitating attachment relationships in families through play and storytelling
  • Diversity and non- discriminatory practise

Sophia is interested in how human beings make sense of their experiences and create meaning through stories. She has used traditional stories for many years in therapeutic work and has seen first-hand how stories can provide a vehicle through which to understand life events and emotional states and contribute to psychic restoration.

Her particular area of expertise is in working with families and is particularly interested in how drama can assist families in improving attachment relationships.

As a South African of Greek heritage Sophia is deeply concerned with issues related to Diversity and the impact of these on the therapeutic relationship.
