Since joining the academic team in 2016, Sonam has been contributing her expertise to the realm of teaching. Holding a registration with the General Optical Council as a practicing Optometrist, she holds accreditations in both MECS and Myopia Control. She plays a pivotal role as an OSCE Examiner for the College of Optometrists. Her commitment to excellence has been acknowledged with a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Sonam, an alumna of ARU, holds a distinguished academic background, having earned a BSc (Hons) Ophthalmic Dispensing in 2011 followed by BOptom (Hons) Optometry in 2014. Her journey led to her qualification as an Optometrist in 2015, with an official entry into the General Optical Council register.
Currently, Sonam works in a dual role. As an Optometrist, she plays a pivotal role in primary care for Independent practices. Moreover, she contributes to ARU as a Lecturer Practitioner. Her responsibilities encompass a wide range of educational tasks, including the delivery of engaging lectures, overseeing laboratory activities, providing guidance and supervision in the eye clinic, conducting assessments, and evaluating the work of third-year students as they undertake their Undergraduate Major Projects.
