Sonam has been involved with the academic team in teaching since 2016. She is a GOC registered optometrist who has accreditations in MECS, Myopia Control contact lens fitting, and post-cataract checks, and has been awarded an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy..


An ARU alumna, Sonam has achieved a degree in BSc (Hons) Ophthalmic Dispensing (2011) and BOptom (Hons) Optometry (2014). She qualified in 2015 and was entered into the General Optical Council register as an Optometrist.

Sonam works as an Optometrist involved in primary care and is employed by ARU as a Lecturer Practitioner. Her role involves lecture delivery, running labs, eye clinic supervision, assessment delivery and marking, and supervising Undergraduate Major Projects for third-year students.
