Sonam’s main research area of interest is on the impact of Colour Vision Deficiency in children during their early years of education. She is undertaking her doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr. Monika Formankiewicz and Dr. Sarah Waugh. Sonam has been working as an Associate Lecturer since 2016 and has also been supervising Undergraduate Optometry students at Anglia Ruskin University’s Eye Clinic since 2018.

Background

Having graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in Ophthalmic Dispensing in 2011, and then Optometry in 2014, Sonam qualified as an Optometrist in 2015 at the end of her Pre-Registration year in Leicester. She returned to Anglia Ruskin University to work as an Associate Lecturer in 2016, a Clinic Supervisor in 2018, and has now commenced work and studies as a Postgraduate Researcher (PhD student) under the supervision of Dr. Monika Formankiewics and Dr. Sarah Waugh. 
In addition to being involved in research, Sonam works as a locum Optometrist in practice, and involved in work with Johnson & Johnson’s The Vision Institute as a student mentor for Pre-Registration Students.
