Areas of Expertise: Biomechanics of human movement
Sokratis is a Lecturer in Medical Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University with a background in clinical and sports biomechanics. His research has been focused on wearable technologies for healthcare and well-being, human motion analysis in sports and clinical populations, digital health, acoustic emission monitoring, physiological monitoring, signal processing, and the biomechanics of knee and hip implants. Further contributions deal with industry 4.0 applications, robotics, machine learning, and sensor system integration.

Sokratis holds an MSc and a PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to that, he received his MEng in mechanical engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Until 2022, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in University College Cork, Tyndall Institute of Technology, Ireland.
His research focused on the biomechanics and knee acoustics of patients with knee pathologies, the running performance of sprinters, the biomechanics and skin movements in patients with ostomy bags, and the development of wearable sensors for rehabilitation and home monitoring. Currently, he is a lecturer in Medical Engineering at ARU’s School of Engineering and the Built Environment.
