Background

Sarinova has led multi-disciplinary, collaborative/industrial projects in sectors including power generation, oil and gas, and offshore wind energy. She adapts R&I-led teaching to enhance her students’ learning experience.

Sarinova graduated from Imperial College, London with BEng (Hons), a Masters degree in Corrosion of Engineering Materials, and a Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering. Her portfolios include:

  • R&I projects generated/developed while at the Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Bristol. These focused on creep and fatigue life predictions (2001-2008)
  • industrial consultancies and power generation plant R&I covering: risk-based management and defect assessment, high temperature plant life assessment, and co-generation plants
  • the 11 years as academic and researcher at the University of Portsmouth where she received several funding awards, for example from InnovateUK, the European Innovation Council, and the British Council’s Going Global Partnership.

Since joining ARU in 2022, Sarinova has continued to grow her portfolios in grant generation.

At ARU, Sarinova is also Director of the Centre for Engineering and Architectural Sustainability (CEAS) and the UoA12 REF2029 Convenor. She is a journal/grant application reviewer, external examiner of several courses at De Montford University, and in steering/technical committees – for instance the East Regional Defence and Security Cluster (RDSC) and Cambridge City Heat Network Development Programme.
