Rohit is a multi-award-winning therapeutic Optometrist with over 30 years of clinical experience in the UK and USA. His interests include incorporating a more holistic approach into eyecare clinics, particularly how it impacts eye health and overall wellbeing.
This approach to patient care was considered “the blueprint for future clinical practice” at the 2021 Optician Awards where Rohit was recognised as Optometrist of the Year.
Upon graduating from Aston University with a degree in Ophthalmic Optics, Rohit gained clinical experience working in hospital, domiciliary and private practice settings.
He upskilled his clinical and therapeutic knowledge, requalifying as an Optometric Doctor from the New England College of Optometry, USA. Rohit practiced for over a decade in Medical Optometric practices in the USA, developing a holistic approach to patient care.
Upon his return to the UK, Rohit combined his passion for clinical practice with teaching at Aston University, before joining ARU in 2021. He is a member of the Vision and Hearing Sciences Research Group.
His awards include Optometrist of Year from the Association of Optometrists (2014), Macular Society (2017), and most recently, the Opticians Awards (2021)
Rohit is an Assessor and Examiner for the College of Optometrists and is involved in the Independent Prescribing Reference Group.
