Background

Dr Garcia-Porta is an optometrist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Optometry, who got her PhD in Vision Science at University of Santiago (Spain) in 2015. During her PhD, her research was focused on contact lenses and she did several internships in different research centers, like University of Minho (Portugal) or Aston University (UK).

In 2017, Dr Garcia-Porta moved to Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) in Cambridge to develop a project funded by the European Union focused on the evaluation of the ocular surface damage in glaucoma patients, thanks to a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. She is currently working as a lecturer in Optometry since June 2019.

Her areas of specialisation include Ocular Surface, Contact Lenses and Aging eye. She currently has more than 30 conferences contributions and more than ten articles of scientific research and outreach published. Regarding her clinical experience, Nery spent six weeks in the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago (US), and nine months working as clinical optometrist in Spain's Quironsalud Hospital.
