Background

Lyn is passionate about midwifery and improving women centred services. Within her role as supervisor of midwives, she ensures that high standards are maintained within the clinical placement areas in order to protect the public. She continues to work clinically as a midwife. She originally came into teaching as a seconded Link lecturer and found that she really enjoyed it so made the move permanent in September 2014.

Research interests

  • Using technology to enhance the student experience
  • Normalizing the high risk pregnancy

As many of our midwifery students live some distance from the University, Lyn is very interested in seeing how we can utilise the technology to enhance the student experience throughout their course. Within the clinical area she often sees midwives reluctant to facilitate women’s wishes under the proviso that they are ‘high risk’ and it cannot be done. She is interested in exploring how this can be addressed to ultimately improve women experience but also increase the rates of intervention within the maternity service.
