Background

Louise joined ARU in 2022. She is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. Prior to joining ARU, she worked as a Behavioural Science Research Fellow at City, University of London, on a project which examined barriers and enablers to diabetic retinopathy screening attendance in young adults with diabetes.

Before this, she worked as a Research Assistant at King’s College London on a clinical trial which tested the efficacy of a nurse-led motivational interviewing-based intervention for rheumatoid arthritis. Louise’s PhD, which was funded by the King’s College Hospital Charity, was a mixed methods process evaluation of this trial using self-determination theory as an explanatory framework.

Louise has extensive research experience with a wide range of stakeholders including the voluntary sector, patients, carers, and clinicians. Louise is Co-Lead of the Health and Care Workforce Research Group, which is part of ARU’s Health and Care Research Centre (HCRC).
