Lisa Marie is a triple national award winner with a background in emergency nursing in the acute and private sector, corporate nursing, project management and leading and managing change.
Lisa Marie has a clinical background in emergency, acute, and private nursing. She has experience piloting, initiating, embedding, and championing changes within practice, including developing clinical pathways and redesigning work. Lisa Marie has also visited several countries while recruiting internationally.
Lisa Marie has been actively engaged in Simulated Practice Learning (SPL) since its establishment in 2021 as part of ARU’s COVID-19 plans to continue nurse education during the pandemic. Lisa Marie has contributed to this initiative in various roles until 2023. Drawing from her extensive experience in this area, Lisa Marie is researching SPL as part of her Professional Doctorate program.

Lisa Marie and the SPL team were awarded the Dean Annual Award for their ongoing work on simulation in nursing (Virtual Simulated Placement) - 2022 - Child Nursing Team.
Lisa Marie has worked on projects and innovations for placement provision in the health and social settings at ARU. This teamwork led to Lisa Marie and the team being awarded the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE), 2022.
Lisa Marie led a trust-wide 100-day challenge and gamified the concept of #endPJparalysis. This work was adopted and went regional, national, and global. She was awarded a national award – Pressure Care and Tissue Viability Nurse of the Year, British Journal of Nursing (BJN), March 2018.
Lisa Marie has corporate nursing experience at the trust level, including operational initiatives, developing governance, educational strategies, and policy making. She also led nursing and midwifery revalidation. This accumulated into a national award for Best Use of ESR to Support the NHS Workforce Agenda, Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA), June 2016.
Lisa Marie is a highly skilled senior nurse with a wealth of clinical and teaching experience. Throughout her career, she has mentored numerous students, learners, and colleagues. As part of the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA), Lisa Marie has acted as a Practice Supervisor (PS), Practice Assessor (PA), Academic Assessor (AA), SPL Education Champion and Personal Tutor (PT).
Upon arriving at ARU in 2021, Lisa Marie completed her PGC in Learning and Teaching. Furthermore, she began her Professional Doctorate in 2022, demonstrating her commitment to ongoing professional development and academic advancement.
In 2002, Lisa Marie attended the mentor workshop and consistently participated in the yearly updates. In 2010, she actively engaged in the General Instructor Course conducted by ALSG. Alongside her participation in educational programs, Lisa Marie dedicated herself to teaching and devising educational strategies and policies as a Quality Care Division and Practice Development Team member.
