Keith's research specialises in community resilience and the application of sustainability principles to the built environment.
Keith obtained a PhD from the Department of Civil Engineering at Heriot-Watt University for study of the bonding mechanism between reinforcing steel and concrete in a tensile lapped splice joint. After leaving Heriot-Watt Keith entered the teaching profession as a junior lecturer at Stow college in Glasgow. In 1984 he joined Thames Polytechnic, later the University of Greenwich.
Keith became the Reader in Sustainable Buildings in 2002; a Professor in Facilities Management in 2007; Head of Department of Property, Housing and Urban Regeneration; and Director of Resources of the School Architecture, Design and Construction at University of Greenwich in 2010.
Keith is the founder of our Future Cities Research Network which brings together PhD researchers and academic, teaching and research staff from across our School of Engineering and the Built Environment and beyond.
