Jack is a Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics and Strength and Conditioning whose teaching, research, and consultancy activities focus on the application of sport science to improve performance. He has a particular interest in golf performance support, working to translate biomechanical, physiological, and performance data into actionable strategies for athletes, coaches, and support staff. His wider interests include sport coaching and applied performance analysis, with a focus on using evidence-informed approaches to solve practical performance challenges. As Co-Course Leader for the BSc (Hons.) Sport and Exercise Science programme, Jack is committed to developing graduates who can effectively apply scientific principles in professional sporting environments.
Jack joined ARU in January 2024 and is a member of the Centre for Better Living. Jack has a BSc (hons.) in Sport and Exercise Science, an MSc in Sports Performance and a PhD in Biomechanics and Strength and Conditioning for Golf.
Prior to working at ARU, Jack spent 11 years as a sport scientist at the Professional Golfers’ Association. Alongside Jack’s current role at ARU, he works as a consulting strength and conditioning coach for England Golf, a Scientific Advisor to the DP World Tour and a Scientific Advisor to the European Disabled Golfers’ Association. During his PhD, Jack developed methods of assessing golfers using force plates which is now being used to physically profile the best golfers in the world. Due to this impact of his research, this was submitted to the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (UOA 24) and was rated as internationally impactful/world leading.
Jack teaches the following modules at ARU:
