Imran has an extensive academic, research, and industry background. Before joining ARU his leadership roles include working as Associate Professor, Director Research, Head of Department, and Course Leader. He has international industry experience as a senior data scientist/consultant.
As a leading expert in artificial intelligence and its applications across multiple disciplines, Imran is interested in pursuing interdisciplinary/cross disciplinary collaborative research. Specialising in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision and data science with a focus on medical imaging, surveillance systems, and anomaly detection, he pioneers innovative solutions for complex real-world challenges. Imran excels in integrating advanced technologies, implementing innovative applications, making him a pioneer in multidisciplinary AI solutions for a sustainable future and medical healthcare.
With an impressive publication record of over 100 research papers (>250 JCR impact factor) with a significant h-index and citations, Imran stands as a distinguished academician contributing significantly to the field of computer science and engineering. He is a double Gold Medallist and has achieved numerous awards and shields for his performance in teaching, research, and administration. Imran was also listed in the world's top 2% scientists by Stanford University, USA, in 2021 and 2022. He has a certificate of merit for his work on brain MRI analysis for tumour detection and segmentation.
