Dr Hossein Bisheh is a cross-disciplinary scholar with a strong background in mechanical, materials, and manufacturing engineering and special interests in the design and development of sustainable composite materials and structures, theoretical and computational mechanics, nanocomposites, bio-composites, structural dynamics, mechanical vibration, smart composite materials and structures, additive manufacturing, and the design, analysis, and fabrication of biomedical prostheses and implants.

Background

Dr Hossein Bisheh joined the School of Engineering and Built Environment in September 2023 as an Assistant Professor (UK Lecturer) in Mechanical Engineering. He was appointed as the course/programme leader of Mechanical Engineering in January 2024. Before joining ARU, Dr Bisheh served as an NSERC Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Course Lecturer (Instructor) at the Departments of Mechanical and Materials Engineering of the University of British Columbia, Canada for two years (2021-2023). He earned his PhD and MSc degrees in Mechanical Engineering from University of Manitoba, Canada, in 2020 and 2015, respectively, and his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Babol Noshrivani University of Technology, Iran, in 2006.

Hossein has over seven years of experience in teaching and student supervision at the University of British Columbia and University of Manitoba. He also has over seven years of industrial experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, and industrial automation in the production of automotive parts/components, injection moulding plastic products, astronomy observatories, CNG compressors, and liquid filtration systems.
