Gavin is a (part-time) Senior Lecturer and doctoral candidate with Anglia Ruskin University. He is also a (part-time) Senior Social Worker, Practice Educator (PE) and Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
Gavin began his social work career as a local authority Forensic (Mental Health) Social Worker in 2001, and went on to work in secure-hospital settings before broadening his experiences via positions in Early Intervention Services (Psychosis), Child Protection and Discharge Planning (Addenbrookes hospital). Gavin joined Anglia Ruskin University in 2009 and splits his time between the University and local authority community mental health social work.
Gavin's research is in evaluating the Blended Context Theory Model which he introduced to support practice educators and student social workers in developing comprehension, and application, of theory with social work practice.
Gavin is module leader for ‘Social Work with Adults’; module tutor for ‘The Application of Theory with Social Work Practice’; and contributes to Assessed Readiness for Direct Practice, while supervising student social workers undertaking their University Major Projects, and practice learning placements.
