Background

In an image saturated world, our desire for a ‘good story’ distorts our ability to decode the veracity of the mediated images that surround us. This creates an unstable territory, where fact and fiction are interchangeable, narratives airbrushed, re-written and invented. An on-going investigation, Duncan Ganley’s research explores the possible narratives of a fictive film director, interwoven with the life and work of the factual moving image pioneer Eadweard Muybridge.

He is currently working on the project ‘Inventory of Empty Streets’, an expansive photographic work of over 3000 images, in which every street in central London was documented during the Covid-19 lockdown.
